This exhibition uses the phrase “On Balance”, as an interpretive fulcrum to weigh the work of these seven artists: Leigh Kane, Philip Hart, James Rose, Rick Salafia, Heather Ramsdale, John Bohdan Nazarewycz, and John Howell White.  “On Balance” points toward a summation, as in “All things considered” and toward the exhibition’s theme, as in “About Balance”.  The art works in the exhibition engage with balance’s many modifiers: in balance; on balance; out of balance; off balance. Whether balance is the manifestation of a temporal or spatial ideal or a grappling understood through lived experience, its role as a touchstone sharpens our conversations about art and life.
